Local May Elections
April 30, 2018

There are three elections throughout Miami-Dade this May; don’t miss out on casting your vote. Get to the polls if you’re in one of these districts (check to see where your district is here).
May 1: District 114 FL House Representative Special Election
This seat (which includes parts of Cutler Bay, Pinecrest, South Miami, and West Miami) was vacated mid-term by Daisy Baez who resigned after lying on her voter registration about living in district. Check out the Herald Editorial Board’s recommendation for this seat. Also, see the League of Women Voters Guide for race details, including how to find your polling location.
May 1: North Miami General Obligation Bond Special Election
See a full breakdown of what the bond will fund at the City’s website. Various iterations of this bond have been tried before without success. Check out this Miami Times article for more details on bond and its history.
May 22: District 5 County Commissioner Special Election
This race is being held to fill the seat vacated by Bruno Barreiro when he resigned to run for office in the D27 Congressional race. Read the Herald’s write-up of the candidates vying for the seat. District 5 roughly covers South Beach, Downtown Miami, Brickell, and Little Havana.
